Role – Junior Cost Engineer Location – Burton Upon Trent Salary – £20,000 – 25,000 Overtime The Company My client is a process engineering specialist who design and manufacture turnkey process equipment solutions for clients in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, materials handling amongst other industries. The company turns over £30 million a year with a headcount of 130 and an incredible 60 professional engineers (18 of whom are chartered) across software, process, electrical and mechanical design. The company have a trading history that dates back over 200 years and a senior management and directorship team who are all home grown from within the business. Each project is developed from initial enquiry through to full design and finally installation and commissioning on site, a project could last up to 2 years and involves input from process, electrical and mechanical engineers. They are currently looking to recruit a Junior Cost Engineer to manage cost variations as projects progress This is a wonderful opportunity to work for a true engineering business so please apply online for immediate consideration. The Role The role of Junior Cost Engineer will see you being mentored directly by the company’s Senior Cost Engineer and will involve: Ensuring all variations on turnkey projects are managed and executed correctly. On a £5 million turnkey project there could be up to £1 million of variations. An example supplier variation could be a change in routing of pipework. Your role as Junior/Graduate Cost Engineer would be to measure up the requirement and asses if a contract agreement is in place for the change or if it is chargeable as a variation. Another example would a customer requesting a location change for a pump, you will then check if this is covered in the original agreement and charge for a variation if not. You will be involved in negotiating prices with suppliers for pipework, pumps and other mechanical and electrical equipment. You will also attend meetings with Project Managers. You will provide monthly reports on live projects to compare the cost to complete vs the costs incurred on live projects. The Candidate To be successful in your application for Junior Cost Engineer you will need: A minimum of a HND/HNC or BTEC in engineering. Experience working in any kind mechanical, electrical, construction or process sector. Experience reading technical drawings and creating quotations, costings or BOM’s (bill of materials).
