Due to business expansion within the rail industry my client based in Staffordshire are looking to recruit on a permanent basis a Senior Development Engineer, to join their Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference within the business and full support of the management will be given. Training will be provided where necessary. Job Title - Senior Development Engineer Line Manager - Head of Engineering Salary Position - Circa £40K - 45K DoE Benefits Bonus - The successful candidate will support, diagnose repair/replace prototypes and production units in the field, at customer sites and depots. - The role will also support all New Project Introduction activities within the business as projects require. - The role will be 50% Design, 25% Project Management and 25% prototype development and field support. Responsibilities will include: - You will be carrying out first fit installations and reporting progress to management. - You will be completing various tests on prototype equipment and creating reports for both internal and external distribution. - Carrying out vehicle born surveys for installations as lead of the engineering team. - Building great relationships with internal and external customers and colleagues, ensuring positive client and end user experience, displaying good interpersonal & problem solving skills, the ability to communicate technical information and training to customers who may not be familiar with the equipment, and on occasion professionally handle difficult conversations. - You will be required to work 3D CAD system (SolidWorks) supporting design activities of both NPI and production designs. - You will be required to construct and manage BoM's for communication - Strong mechanical engineer with hand calculation ability - Experience with machine, welding enclosure design experience/Sheet metal design - Product testing and validation - You will lead in validation processes such as DFMEA, Risk Assessments and HAZARD reviews Qualifications: - Hold a Minimum of BEng in a Mechanical Engineering. - Minimum of 5 Years recent industry based Solidworks experience - Minimum relevant industry experience of 10 years - Full UK Driver's licence - Computer Literate - basic use of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel and MS Project - Ability to work in areas that have restricted access (Military) - Refrigerant experience is a plus but not essential.
