Job Summary The role is ideally based with our Major Highways Team in our Leicester Office, but location in the Bristol or Birmingham Office will be considered. Your Role We are a small team of Bridge Engineering Specialists with an expanding workload and we are now seeking to recruit an experienced engineer to assist in delivering this workload and to participate in expanding the team. We undertake a full range of services, from sketch schemes to construction issue, including load assessments of Highway Structures. The role offers an opportunity for rapid development; you will be assisting a Principal Engineer with setting and reviewing objectives, targets and performance of the team. You will develop relationships with key customers, suppliers and contacts relevant to the team by providing professional advice. You will have the opportunity to manage small projects to quality constraints and standards as well as assisting the Team Leader in the management of larger projects, estimating, pricing and delivering against work targets. Our portfolio of projects includes provision of multiple bridge structures on major highway schemes, Cable stayed footbridges, load assessments on existing bridges for maintenance and heavy/ large load purposes, CAT 3 checking as well as the provision of feasibility and procurement advice. About You You must have significant experience within the field of Bridge Engineering. You should be able to demonstrate recent experience, knowledge and understandings of current DMRB bridge design standards and Highways England's approval and certification procedures. Experience of the use of Eurocodes for bridge design is essential. Experience of Network Rail standards would also be useful, but not essential. You must be able to develop a cost-effective solution to the design of bridge structures, including buildability and alternative construction methods. You must be degree qualified with an appropriate professional qualification. Alternatively, you may be approaching professional qualifications, with post graduate industry experience. You will be proficient in the use of bridge design software packages and you must understand and have experience in the operation of management systems for quality, financial and project controls.
