We are looking for an experienced Laboratory Development Manager who can lead a team of experienced chemists and technicians within our newly refurbished Laboratory. About the Role: Effective management of development & material technology projects. Manage maintenance of formulations ensuring records are kept up to date and traceable. Full line management responsibility for Quality Control and Research and Development teams (4 people). Maintain drive and enthusiasm in the teams to ensure they reach their full potential and remain focused and efficient in their work. Undertake appraisal meetings setting targets & objectives. Managing an efficient laboratory in a safe manner with the highest level of focus on housekeeping tidiness and cleanliness. Working in a safe manner in conformance to Instarmac H&S guidelines. Keeping H&S at the forefront of all your team’s activities and use of equipment. Ensure all R&D forms, data logs, project reporting systems are being maintained with a constant focus on improvement and working more efficiently. Ensure QC records are being maintained at all times, are up to date and specification parameters are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure quality of product and consistency remains the focus. Ensure Raw Material Supplier contact is maintained constantly seeking alternatives and new innovations. Responsible for issuing final agreed formulations to plant/ SAP, electronically, and for maintaining records once done. About You The role would suit someone with a construction material background, with experience of working in product development for cement powders, aggregates and bitumen. Experience of motivating a team and getting the best out of them. Experience of the demands placed on a busy Quality Control laboratory. Excellent communication and reporting skills and be able to provide the motivation, drive and innovation that the role demands.
