Welbourn Preschool is seeking to recruit a new leader to join our team. The role will be suited to someone with a background in childcare and early years Education having some management/supervisory experience within a childcare/preschool setting. The ideal candidate will be qualified to level 3 in childcare/education or equivalent and have had up to date paediatric first aid training. Full safeguarding lead qualifications would also be advantageous.
The role will encompass many aspects of childcare and early years education as part of a team ensuring the day to day smooth running of the pre-school. This will be a term time only position with an expectation of working hours being 8.45 - 3.45 daily for the first year of employment, after this there will be some flexibility.
Some duties include, planning, organising and preparing activities, ensuring materials and equipment is set out in a timely fashion to make the most of each child’s time in pre-school. To act as Key Person to a small number of children, building up that child’s developmental records and liaising with their parents/carers. It is essential that the candidate is able to build working relationships with parents/carers in order to exchange information about children’s progress and encourage parental involvement.
You will be expected to attend and contribute to committee and staff meetings and meetings with other outside agencies should the need arise, as well as attend any courses/ training deemed necessary. You will be working alongside an administrator to ensure your time is well spent in the room with the other staff and children and avoiding lengthy spells dealing with clerical issues, allowing you to focus on ensuring fun and memorable experiences for our children.
The ideal candidate should have knowledge and experience in special educational needs and safeguarding procedures. The candidate will continually ensure and manage the safeguarding of the children within the preschool and keep all information about the pre-schools children, family and staff confidential.
The ability to work as part of a team is essential; we are a close knit, community setting and need a leader sensitive enough to slot into a friendly and well established team yet firm enough to make their own mark.
